I offer lessons in quilt making, sewing machine skills and sewing in my studio in Westchester County, NY. Lessons are private or small, and for all ages.
I have years of experience sewing and teaching. I started on the machine when I was 5 and learned by trial and error. This lead to more formal study of weaving, fabric design and fine arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where I earned a BFA in Designer/Crafts.
Since I began quilting in 1993, I’ve created several hundred quilts, mostly custom design commissions. Many of my designs have incorporated clients’ photos, clothing and vintage fabrics, so that each piece evokes strong memories and tells a unique story. I have turned many piles of laundry into treasured t-shirt quilts that have traveled off to college and beyond.
I have been teaching sewing just as long, starting with after-school programs. I’ve continued teaching workshops and programs designed for many different ages, skill levels in many venues and settings, giving classes in hand and machine sewing and quilting. I’m very happy to be an Artist in Residence for the Westchester Library System.
